Ttyymmnn covered this today. I offer the episode of This American Life, Act One. Excellent recounting of those events in the first person.

The whole idea of a liquid-fueled ICBM is comical.

Also this from PBS:
Command and Control , a documentary about the disaster as part of the American Experience series.
Edit: Looks like there might be a paywall. Might be on YouTube. It’s very good.

Agreed, though for my taste, it frequently is irreverent and too Bohemian for my liking. But when it’s good, it’s resoundingly good.

I’ve found RadioLab to be a good mix. And then 99% invisible when you want the straight facts.

Broken Arrow incidents are always interesting to read about. I’m partial to that time the Air Force dropped an H-bomb on Albuquerque in 1957 .

I’ve got to say the Navy accidentally rolling an A-4 complete with pilot and nuclear bomb off a carrier and into the ocean would be sort of a comical picture if the pilot hadn’t died.

Yes, totally agreed. Very high quality.
The problem with This American Life is that it’s too Ira Glass.
